Intellectual Property Statement

Last updated: —

Filmmaker ownership

Filmmakers retain full ownership of their films, scripts, footage, treatments, and all other creative materials they upload or share through ReelRoots. Listing a project on ReelRoots does not transfer any ownership or exclusive rights to ReelRoots or to any brand.

Brand ownership

Brands retain full ownership of their trademarks, logos, product designs, and brand assets. Listing a product or sharing brand assets on ReelRoots does not transfer any ownership or exclusive rights to ReelRoots or to any filmmaker.

ReelRoots does not acquire ownership

ReelRoots does not automatically obtain ownership of either party's intellectual property by operating the platform. Any use of a brand's assets in a film, or any reference to a film in a brand's marketing, must be governed by the placement agreement the two parties negotiate directly.

License to operate the platform

By posting content, users grant ReelRoots a limited license to display, process, and transmit that content as needed to operate the marketplace — for example, showing a film's poster and logline in search results, or delivering a script to a brand with an approved access grant. This license ends when the content is removed or the account is deleted.
